2018 UNLV SCHEDULE @UNLVFOOTBALL BUY SEASON TICKETS!

Week four of UNLV's spring practice ended with a bang Saturday as the squad turned in a non-scripted scrimmage that lasted 40 minutes in front of a big crowd at Rebel Park.

Head coach Tony Sanchez seemed pleased with the effort when meeting with the media after what was practice number 11.

"We got 60 snaps in, which is good. There was some good give and take out there. You like the turnovers created by the defense but don't like the offense turning it over. You like the big plays the offense has but don't like that the defense gave them up."

Three of the four UNLV quarterbacks were in white jerseys Saturday, which means they were live for contact. Only incumbent starter, sophomore Armani Rogers, was wearing the black uniform.

"Armani is a dual-threat quarterback who is going to carry the ball 10-15 times a game -- there's no reason to get extra hits on him right now because he's going to get so many in the fall. The other guys have not played live so they need to get hit a little bit."

With just one week left in spring ball, Sanchez likes where his team is.

"I thought week four was really good. We made a lot of improvements, saw some really good things on special teams. Defense continued to improve. Armani did a really good job of throwing the ball near the end of the week. The one thing about this group is that they are so experienced they bring a maturity and workmanlike attitude every day, which is so productive. We have a lot of players who have played a lot of football. The guys show up on time and are ready to get to work. We have energy out there but don't need a lot of extra hoopla.

"We are trying to create separation from the top and bottom and there are guys doing that (this spring). I tell them that only 70 guys are going to jump on an airplane to travel to USC September 1 so you better make sure you will be in that group and that is creating good competition right now."

For its final week of spring practice, the schedule changes up a bit as the team will hit the field Monday and Wednesday and then a helmets-only session Friday.

All practices are open to the public but viewing areas are restricted and no use of mobile communication devices will be allowed while at Rebel Park. Please note that dates, times and dress are subject to change.

The public is invited to attend the FREE family-friendly Spring Showcase April 14, which will kick off at noon and be held on campus at UNLV's soccer complex at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
