Rebels Tied For 10th After One Round In Napa

NAPA, California (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf played its final first round of the regular season Sunday at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, California, and finished the day in a tie for 10th with Pepperdine at 13-over 301. The tournament, co-hosted by Oregon and Colorado, features eight teams in Golfweek's top-25.

Sophomore Nastasia Kossacky was the top Rebel finisher of the day, carding 2-over 74 to sit in a tie for 19th. Junior Elizabeth Prior came in one shot behind Kossacky at 3-over (75) and in a tie for 32nd, followed by junior Shannon Oh and freshman Poly Mack in a tie for 42nd at 4-over (76). Senior Mackenzie Raim shot an 8-over 80 and is tied for 77th heading into round two.

Fifth-ranked USC sits atop the leaderboard after day one at 2-over (290), followed by No. 14 Arizona and No. 2 UCLA in a tie for second at 4-over (292). California and No. 6 Stanford round out the top five at 5-over (293) and 6-over (294), respectively.

USC's Jennifer Chang will have a two-shot lead heading into round two after carding a 6-under 66. Cal's Jiyoon Jang and Stanford's Mika Liu sit tied for second at 4-under (68), followed by Pepperdine's Hira Naveed at 2-under (70) in fourth. UCLA's Patty Tavatanakit and Arizona's Bianca Pagdanganan each shot a 1-under (71) to sit tied for fifth.

UNLV has won two tournaments this spring, both in Las Vegas

UNLV recently recorded its second home tournament win of the 2017-18 season as they shot a 17-over at the inaugural Rebel Beach Invitational at Spanish Trail Golf Club Feb. 26-27 to win by two strokes, then followed that with a 53-stroke win at the Jackrabbit Invitational last week
Last season, UNLV won the Mountain West Championship for the second straight year
