LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV assistant coach Larry Wade will be a featured speaker this weekend's California Track & Field Coaches Clinic in Fresno, California. The two-day event (Friday and Saturday), which is sponsored by Nike and Gear Up Sports, will take place at the Piccadilly Airport Inn and includes topics, such as: team building, sports psychology and event-specific training.

Wade is scheduled to speak twice Saturday at 10:30 am (teaching hurdle technique) and at 1:00 pm (specific strength training for young developing athletes).

Wade is one of a few coaches in the nation that has coached both a female sprinter and a male sprinter to sub-11 and sub-10 seconds in the 100m, respectively. He has also coached a male hurdler to sub-13 seconds in the 110m hurdles and a female hurdler to sub-13 seconds in the 100m hurdles.

This past year, the Rebels claimed their first Mountain West Indoor Championship and finished as runner-up at the Outdoor Championships. He helped mentor four individuals and the 4x400m relay to all-conference honors during the indoor and outdoor campaigns, while the 4x100m relay achieved All-MW recognition during the outdoor season.

The 1988 Texas A&M graduate and Hall of Fame inductee was a two-time national champion and five-time All-American has coached American Carmelita Jeter to a gold and bronze medal in the 4x100m relay and 10m, respectively at the 2007 World Championships. He also mentored American Candise Davis to a silver medal in the 60m hurdles at the World Indoor Championships, and coached Rodney Martin (4x100m relay/USA), Shevon Stoddart (400m hurdles/Jamaica) and Fabien Fareez (200m/France) to spots on their 2008 Olympic Teams.
