Rebels Host Three Square Splash In September

Fundraising aquatic event returns to the Jim Reitz Pool for the second straight year.

The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving team will again host this year the "Three Square Splash", four hours of aquatic fun and entertainment for the Las Vegas community Saturday, Sept. 8. The fundraising event will benefit the Three Square organization and runs from 8 am - 12 pm at UNLV's Jim Reitz Pool in the Buchanan Natatorium.

"We are excited to host the second-ever Three Square Splash," said UNLV head swimming and diving coach Ben Loorz. "We had a ton of fun last year, and to see the entire Las Vegas aquatics community turn out to benefit our local food bank is our dream for the event" .

The event will include clinics in diving, synchronized swimming, water polo, Masters swimming and sprint training. Leading the clinics will be some of the best coaching minds from the local community in their respective sports. This one-of-a-kind event is designed for all ages, with the goal of introducing more sports to the local community as well as helping to raise funds for Three Square. Last year's event raised funds that provided over 3,000 meals for the Las Vegas community.

The morning will start off at 8 am with the youth sprint clinic as well as a Masters swimming clinic. The 9 am hour will have an advanced sprint clinic, while the other side of the pool will hold the diving clinic. 10 am will be split between the Tri-Swim workout and a synchronized swimming clinic, while the event will conclude with the  fourth and final hour devoted to water polo, with both a Masters scrimmage as well as a youth clinic.

Advanced registration is available at https://www.threesquare.nationbuilder.com/unlv_swim_vfd, and registration will also be available up to the morning of the event at Buchanan Natatorium. The cost is $30 for adults, and $10 plus two cans of non-perishable food for students.  Three Square will receive 100% of the proceeds from the event, which will also offer a free breakfast for all participants with bagels, muffins, fruit juice and coffee.
