Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rebels Suffer First Home Loss On Late Score

UNLV is back on the road for four straight away from Las Vegas.

UNLV men's soccer suffered its first home loss of the season Sunday night when the Cal State Fullerton Titans scored off a scramble in front of the goal with just over five minutes left in the contest for a 1-0 victory over the Rebels at Peter Johann Memorial Field. It was the final game of the Johann Memorial Classic, and dropped UNLV's record to 4-2 for the season.

It was an even contest in the first half, with the Titans outshooting UNLV 4-3 over the opening 45 minutes. The second half saw the visitors ramp up their attack, taking a total of nine shots while forcing the Rebels to record several highlight reel saves to preserve the shutout, until the winning score.

THE TURNING POINT: CSU Fullerton drove the ball in the left side of the box, and several UNLV defenders slid in to break up three potential shots, until Alex Juarez was able to pass the ball back to Samuel Goni. He scored on the empty goal from seven yards out in the 85th minute for the 1-0 lead.

REBEL OF THE GAME: UNLV would not have been in the game without the play of junior goalkeeper Enrique Adame, who playing strong in goal all night long and made five outstanding saves to keep the game scoreless before the Titans only score.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV was outshot for the first time this season, 13-8 by the Titans.

QUOTABLE:

- UNLV Head Coach Rich Ryerson

* UNLV starting midfielder Timo Mehlich did not play after suffering an injury in Friday's victory
