ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (UNLVRebels.com)Â -Â UNLV women's golf officially teed off its 2018-19 campaign Monday at New Mexico's Dick McGuire/Branch Law Firm Invitational in Albuquerque and finished the day in 10th place at 11-over 587 after two rounds. After the first 18 holes, the Rebels sat in seventh place at 6-over 294, then followed that with a 5-over 293 in the second round.
Reigning Mountain West Player of the Year, sophomore
Polly Mack, turned in the best Rebel score of the day as she shot even par after 36 holes to sit in a tie for 19th. Senior
Elizabeth Prior opened her final campaign with a 3-over to sit tied for 29th, while junior
Nastasia Kossacky and freshman
Veronica Joels - making her Rebel debut - each shot a 4-over and are tied for 38th heading into Wednesday's final round.Â
Kent State leads the team competition at 7-under with a four-shot lead, while New Mexico's Darian Zacheck ended Monday with the lowest score of 7-under and will have a two-shot lead going into the final 18 holes.
REBEL OF THE DAY: Mack picked up right where she left off last year with two consistent rounds, sinking six birdie putts over the 36 holes.
NEXT UP FOR THE REBELS:Â UNLV will finish out the invitational with Tuesday's final round. Play begins at 7:30 a.m. PT with a shotgun start.
