UNLV Volleyball to play in St. Louis at the Billiken Invitational this weekend.
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team hits the road for the Billiken Invitational hosted by Saint Louis University this weekend. The Rebels, who are making their second trip to the city dubbed the Gateway to the West, will join the Murray State Races, UMKC Kangaroos and host SLU Billikens in the two-day, six-match tournament.

Each team will play once Friday and twice Saturday. The Scarlet & Gray will play Murray State in the first match of day one's action (3:30 pm CT/1:30 pm PT). The Rebels will return to the Chaifetz Pavilion Saturday for a 10:00 am CT (8:00 am PT) bout with UMKC and a 7:00 pm CT (5:00 pm PT) tilt with SLU.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
UNLV has faced two of this weekend's opponents with a 2-1 combined mark against the squads from the Show Me State. The Rebels have knocked off UMKC twice, but suffered a defeat to SLU in their only meeting. This will be the first contest played against Murray State.

ON THE SIDELINES
With the conclusion of its nonconference portion of the 2018 schedule this weekend, UNLV will move into Mountain West play with one home match - vs. Boise State on Sept. 20 (6:00 pm) - and another on the road - at Utah State on Sept. 22 (1:00 pm MT/12:00 pm PT).

SCOUTING THE REBEL CHALLENGE OPPOSITION
Friday's Opponent: Murray State Racers
-Enters the weekend off a 1-2 showing at a tournament last weekend in Wyoming.
-Seven of their matches have only been played to three sets, with a favorable 5-2 record.
-This is the first meeting between UNLV and Murray State.

Saturday's Opponent: UMKC Kangaroos (7-4)
-Enters the weekend off a 3-0, home loss to Kansas State at Tuesday night.
-Followed a 3-3 start to the season with a perfect 4-0 showing last weekend at their own Kangaroo Classic.
-The Rebels own a 2-0 lead in the all-time series with wins in 1999 and 2010.

Saturday's Opponent: Saint Louis Billikens (1-8)
-Enters the weekend losers of two straight after winning their first match of the season vs. Central Michigan.
-Six of their nine losses have been via 3-0 final scores, with one each via 3-1 and 3-2 tallies.
-The Billikens are the third team from the Atlantic 10 that UNLV will face this season; the Rebels are 2-0 vs. the conference with wins over Duquesne and Fordham.
-The Billikens lead that all-time series 1-0 after a 3-0 sweep at home over of UNLV in 1996 (Sept. 27).
