Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Sunday Night Overtime Setback

UNLV's three losses this season are all by one goal.

UNLV men's soccer was taken to overtime for the second time this season, as the Rebels were handed a 1-0 loss at the hands of San Diego Sunday night at Torero Stadium. That dropped the Rebels to 5-3 overall, while USD improved to 3-2-3 for the season.

The Rebels had several scoring chances over the first two halves, forcing the USD goalkeeper to make five saves to keep UNLV off the scoreboard while facing 15 total shots. UNLV could not cash in on its opportunities however, and the Toreros held on long enough to earn a goal in the 100th minute to claim the win at the end of the first overtime. A throw-in deep in Rebel territory led to a short cross that was chipped up to the front of the goal. Patric Krall came in and headed the ball to the left post for the score and golden goal.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV finished with a 16-11 edge on shots, though just 5-4 on shots on goal. However, USD held the Rebels to just one total shot in the overtime period, while taking two of its own, and both were on goal.

QUOTABLE:
" A second game in overtime that we basically gave up the same kind of goal as we did in the first one. We just needed to be more focused on restarts tonight, that has been our message. Now we need to regroup and be ready for conference play. We had such a great support of our fan base tonight for the guys from the San Diego area as well as our alumni. It was great to see that much red in the crowd tonight, we just wish we were leaving with a different result."
- UNLV Head Coach Rich Ryerson

REBEL NOTES:
* The Rebels have lost three straight Sunday night games, and all have been by one-goal margins, two in overtime while the third saw the winning goal scored in the final five minutes.
* This is the first time this season UNLV has lost a game while outshooting its opponent.
* UNLV is just one win away from reaching 400 total victories in its 45 year-history.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV begins conference play Saturday night with its WAC opener at UTRGV in Edinburg, Texas, with a 5 pm (PT) start.
