SEATTLE (UNLVRebels.com) – For the second straight day, UNLV track & field's
Mackenna Howard and
Cassidy Osborne-Butler notched top-eight finishes in a throwing event at the UW Invitational. Howard and Osborne-Butler placed fifth (48-6.25/14.79m) and seventh (47-4.50/14.44m), respectively, in the invite shot put held at the Dempsey Indoor Saturday.
Just one day ago, Howard claimed the weight throw title with a personal-best mark of 59-0.25 (17.99m), while Osborne-Butler was eighth (54-11.25/16.74).
The Scarlet & Gray was also represented on day two of the meet by
Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete and
Elisa Rovere in the 800m, with the former running 2:09.21, while the latter ran a personal-best 2:10.62. Additionally,
Yamilet Biggers ran in the 400m with a time of 59.48.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Rebels will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic next week (Feb. 1-2). The trip will be the first of three to the Duke City for UNLV in February, as the squad will also participate in the Don Kirby Invitational (Feb. 8-9) as well as the Mountain West Indoor Championships (Feb. 21-23).
ALL-COMERS MEET: The UNLV track & field program will host its second All-Comers Meets at Myron Partridge Stadium & Sheila Tarr-Smith Field on Feb. 16. Participants (open to the public) can enter the meet for $5 for one event or $10 for two or more. Spectators are $5. Action begins at 9:30 am with the shot put and concludes at 12:50 pm with the 4x400m relay.
