Cameron Castro was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week from the Western Athletic Conference, it was announced Tuesday.
Castro, a Long Beach, California naive, helped lead his team to a win over California Baptist last weekend behind a phenomenal performance in the 1000 free. His time of 9:31.47 leads the WAC by over six seconds. His second-place finish in the 500 free (4:33.54) is also the second-fastest time in the WAC. Castro added a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM (4:13.46) as he competed one of the toughest triples in swimming, competing in the 1000 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 400 IM.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The Rebels hit the road for back-to-back dual meets in the Beehive State next weekend. UNLV faces Utah Friday at 5:00 pm and then BYU Saturday at 11:00 am.
