LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving team will hit the road for back-to-back dual meets in the Beehive State this weekend. UNLV will face Utah Friday night at 5:00 pm (MT) at the Ute Natatorium, then BYU Saturday morning at 11:00 am (MT) at the Richards Building Pool.Â

Highlighting the Rebel men this season are freshman
Cameron Castro, the reigning WAC Swimmer of the Week who leads the league by over six seconds in the 1000 free (9:31.47), freshman Chris Mykkanen who leads the WAC in the 500 free (4:33.35), senior
Hayden Hemmens, and junior
Richard Szilagyi. Junior
Jesse Cawley, a WAC Diver of the Week honoree this season, is also set to be a strong contender.
Setting the pace for the Rebel women are sophomore
Julia Filippova who is the only swimmer in the MW so far this season under 5:00 in the 500 free, sophomore
Carissa Armijo who is third in the MW in the 500 free (5:01.11), sophomore
Teneka Ash, and sophomore diver
Montse Moreno.
"We are really looking forward to the competition this weekend," explained head coach
Ben Loorz. "Going on the road to our old rivals in Utah is one of the best opportunities of the year to test out our relays, and to get experience at performing back-to-back meets. We expect both programs to be very tough, but we need to perform well as it is our last test prior to mid-season Invitationals."
