Runnin' Rebels Defeat Abilene Christian, 72-58

Junior guard Amauri Hardy shot 9 of 10 from the field and scored a game-high 25 points Monday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's basketball junior Amauri Hardy led all scorers with 25 points as the Runnin' Rebels (2-3) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 72-58 win over Abilene Christian Monday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Senior guard Elijah Mitrou-Long and junior forward Donnie Tillman were also in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Junior forward Mbacke Diong grabbed a game-high-tying 10 rebounds.

The Wildcats (1-3) were led by Trey Lenox and Joe Pleasant with 11 points apiece.

THE TURNING POINT: Abilene Christian used a 14-2 run to tie the game at 50-50 with 10 minutes to play, but the Runnin' Rebels responded with a 9-0 spurt to take a 59-50 lead with eight minutes to go. ACU then trailed by just four with four minutes to play (62-58), but UNLV closed the game on a 10-0 run.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV shot over 50 percent from the field for the second time this year. The Runnin' Rebels made 27 of 50 shots for a percentage of 54.0.

RUNNIN' REBEL OF THE GAME: Hardy missed just one shot as he was 9 of 10 from the floor, including 3 of 4 on 3-pointers.

- UNLV outscored Abilene Christian 22-8 over the final 9:42.
- UNLV is 2-0 when shooting 50 percent or better from the field this season.
- Hardy and Mitrou-Long have scored in double figures in all five games this season.
- Hardy has scored 20+ points twice this year and is the only Runnin' Rebel to reach the mark this season.
- UNLV has made at least one 3-pointer in a NCAA-record 1,075 straight games.
