Rebel Women Hit The Road To MW Championships

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com)- The UNLV Rebels will be at the 2019 Mountain West Women's Swimming and Diving Championships this weeks held in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. This year's championship will run from Wednesday Feb. 20-Saturday Feb. 23, with preliminaries starting at 12:30 pm (CT) on Wednesday, 11:00 am (CT) Thursday-Saturday, while the finals sessions will have a 6:30 pm (CT) start each night. 

"Rebel Women are on the rise," said head coach Ben Loorz. "This squad has just continued to get better all year.  Every month they take another leap forward, so we're very excited to see what this week will bring"

The Rebel women have their sights set on surpassing last year's finish of eighth place. Looking to pace UNLV's efforts this week is freshman Julia Filippova who holds the third fastest time in the league for the 200 free (1:48.15) and the sixth fastest time in the 100 free (50.10). Freshman Carissa Armijo is also expected to earn points for the Rebels, she currently holds the fifth fastest time in the league for the 400 IM (4:19.95), the eighth fastest time in the 200 fly (2:02.50), and the ninth fastest time in the 500 free (4:50.64).

Real-time results are also available on mobile devices through the Meet Mobile app for a nominal fee of $1.99 per month. The Mountain West and Active Network applications can be downloaded from the App Store and the Google Play Store.  

This year's MW Championships will be live streamed by FloSports, available at FloSwimming.com. Fans can sign up for a month subscription for $30, or an annual at $150.
