LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team remained undefeated at home this season with a 4-2 victory over Gonzaga Saturday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels improved to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in Las Vegas while the Bulldogs of the West Coast Conference fell to 4-2.
 
The hosts started out winning a hotly contested doubles session by taking two of three matches, including the clincher in a tiebreaker on court three. UNLV then showed the power of the bottom half of its singles lineup by collecting wins on courts 3-6 to clinch it overall.
 
NET NOTES: UNLV won all four sets that went to a tiebreaker vs. the Bulldogs, including one doubles match that secured the team point … Sophomore Clayton Alenik stayed perfect in dual matches by downing Matthew Perkins, 7-6, 6-1, at the sixth spot. The Las Vegas native improved to 7-0 in 2019.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Jordan Sauer teamed with Olle Thestrup to win 6-3 in doubles and then rallied in singles after dropping the first set to Kyle Everly at the fourth spot, 2-6, 7-6, 6-2.
 
QUOTABLE: "Today was a real battle against a solid team. We managed to barely edge them in doubles and were struggling early in singles. But the guys dug in and played with good energy and focus to get the win."

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will be back at home Monday for a makeup date with NAU. Originally scheduled to be played last week, the matchup now begins with doubles at 1 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
