UNLV Football Announces Signings

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV's recruiting class has grown to 21 with the addition of five more players announced Wednesday by head coach Tony Sanchez during the first day of the national signing period.

The newest group consists of one graduate transfer – wide receiver Jordan McCray (6-5, 200, SR-TR) -- two high school players – offensive lineman Garrett Beckman (6-4, 320, FR-HS) and defensive lineman Naki Fahina (6-0, 265, FR-HS) – and a pair of junior college transfers – safety Gamon Howard (6-2, 190, JR-TR) and cornerback Jeremiah Houston (6-0, 185, JR-TR).

All five student-athletes are expected to enroll at UNLV this summer in time for fall camp.

UNLV's overall recruiting class is now made up of 11 high school players, nine junior-college transfers and one graduate transfer. The breakdown also sees 12 defensive players and nine on offense: 5 DL, 4 OL, 4 DB, 3 LB, 3 WR, 1 RB and 1 QB.

The entire group consists of student-athletes whose hometowns are spread among 10 states: 10 from California, two from Nevada, a pair from Louisiana, and one each from Hawai'i, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia and South Carolina.

"Just like in the December class, we brought in some guys to play now and some guys for the future," Sanchez said. "Overall, we signed the guys that we needed and we will add more through some junior college and fifth-year senior transfers that we are looking at. It's the first time we've had the luxury of holding a few scholarships back after signing day, which gives us a chance to go through spring and then evaluate where we are at and where we may need any more depth."

UNLV opens spring practice February 25.

The Rebels' 2019 season begins with a home game vs. Southern Utah on August 31. New season ticket deposits are available now by visiting UNLVtickets.com or calling (702) 739-FANS (3267). Information about 2019 football season ticket renewals, a special offer for current season ticket holders and information about the 2020 transition into Las Vegas Stadium will be released Thursday.
