MALIBU, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team could not recover after dropping the opening doubles point and lost for the first time this season, 5-2, at Pepperdine Friday afternoon.
 
Playing at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center just yards from the Pacific Ocean, the Waves improved to 1-3 on the year while the Rebels fell to 5-1.
 
The hosts took the first two completed doubles matches while the remaining contest was abandoned tied at 3. In singles play, half of the matches went to three sets and UNLV took two of them, on courts five and six. At the top of the lineup, 112th-ranked Adrian Oeztbach of Pepperdine prevailed 7-6, 7-5 over Olle Thestrup.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Freshman Tom Ciszewski improved to 6-0 in dual matches this season with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Pawel Jankowiak on court six.
 
QUOTABLE: "We started out slowly in doubles and that really cost us. There was a lot of missed opportunities in singles, which we will learn from and be better about moving forward."
