LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team made quick work of visiting Youngstown State on a sunny but chilly Friday morning at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels, who were making their home debut this season, improved to 3-2 overall while the Penguins from the Horizon League fell to 2-4.
The hosts needed just 23 minutes to win all three doubles matches and forge a 1-0 lead. In singles, UNLV swept every court, including wins by its two ranked players – No. 81
Aiwen Zhu at the first spot and No. 118

REBEL OF THE MATCH: Freshman
Alex Kalachova teamed with
Samantha Li for a 6-2 doubles victory at the third position and then made her dual-match singles debut, downing Claudia Barboza on court six, 7-6, 6-1.
NET NOTES: UNLV earned its first shutout of the season … The Rebels improved to 4-0 all-time against YSU and have never lost a team point the Penguins … Zhu moved into a tie with Adrienn Hidvegi (2008-11) in eighth place on the school's career singles list with her 88th victory … Zhu also climbed the charts in doubles, tying Aleksandra Josifoska (2011-14) in ninth place with 76 all-time wins.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will host a doubleheader Saturday. The Rebels will face UTEP starting at 10 a.m. and then Weber State at 2 p.m. Admission to all home matches is free of charge.
