AUSTIN, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field's
Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete was the fastest collegiate competitor in the 800m Invitational Thursday at the Clyde Little Field Texas Relays. Wilson-Perteete clocked a time of 2:05.30, a mere 0.22 seconds behind former Stanford All-American Olivia Baker's 2:05.08, at the event contested at the University of Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Thursday's race was the first foray into the 800m this outdoor season for the sophomore from Oakland, California, after previously running in the 400m, 1500m and two relays.
Fellow Rebel
Elisa Rovere finished ninth overall in the race in 2:19.22.
The four-day meet continues through Saturday, with preliminary rounds of the 100m, 100m hurdles, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay and 1600m Sprint Medley Relay.
Additionally, UNLV's
Cassidy Osborne-Butler will compete Friday morning in the shot put (section B), while
Mackenna Howard will wait until the afternoon to participate in the shot put (section A).
The Longhorn Network, ESPN's 24-hour network devoted to UT Athletics, will televise 14 hours of the meet with Paul Sunderland providing play-by-play and Ahmad Brooks serving as sideline reporter. Former U.S. Olympians Dan O'Brien and Dwight Stones will serve as analysts.

- Pegram is second in the 100m hurdles.
- Williams ranks eighth in both the 100m hurdles and long jump.
