COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) – Winter-like weather moved Sunday's men's tennis match indoors and the change was a major factor as Air Force was able to get by UNLV 4-3.
The Falcons, who came in 0-5 in Mountain West play, gutted out the upset after dropping the doubles point to improve to 12-11 overall. The Rebels, playing indoors for the first time, fell to 13-7 overall and 2-4 in league play.
The visitors eked out the doubles point but were able to take just two of six singles matches, which were played in shifts with the limited court space and led to a four-hour contest.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Junior
Eric Samuelsson teamed with
Clayton Alenik for a point-clinching 7-6 win at the top of the doubles lineup and then rallied to win at No. 1 singles over Patrick Sklenka, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will close out its regular-season schedule with a trip to San Diego State on Saturday.
