LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV signee Jazlynn Shearer was named the MileSplitCA 2019 Girls Track Athlete of the Year after single-handedly leading Silver Creek High School (San Jose, California) to a second-place finish at the CIF State Championships as well as running the third-fastest 100m hurdles time (13.24) in the country by a prep student-athlete this season.
Shearer, who signed her National Letter of Intent to compete for the Rebels last November, claimed gold in both the 100m hurdles (13.24 PB) and triple jump (41-1) as well as silver in the long jump (19-10.75 PB).
In addition to her time of 13.24 in the 100m hurdles, Shearer led the Golden State in the triple jump, with a mark of 41-3.75 posted at the Arcadia Invitational in April.
