Rebels Represented At Two International Meets This Summer

Bryan Chavez will be at the Pan Am Games, volunteer assistant coach Kasia Wilk and new signee Ognjen Maric will be at the FINA World Championships.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Two current member of the UNLV men's swimming team as well as volunteer assistant coach Kasia Wilk (Wasick) will be competing in two international championships this summer in Asia and Peru.

Sophomore Bryan Chavez qualified to compete in the Pan American Games (August 6-10) and will represent Venezuela in Lima, Peru. He will be competing in 100m Fly and will also be on the 400m Freestyle Relay, 200m Medley Relay, and 400m Medley Relay. 


New Rebel men's signee Ognjen Maric, a Croatia native, qualified for the 2019 FINA World Championships on July 13-28, held in Gwangju, South Korea. Maric will be competing in the 200m free with his qualifying time 1:50.08 and representing Croatia.

Also representing the Rebels at the 2019 FINA World Championships this summer is Kasia Wilk, who is trained by the UNLV coaching staff. She was the standout of the Polish Nationals last month as she became the first Polish woman to post a sub-25 50m free time (24.73), currently the 13th fastest time in the world. She also swam on the record-setting 4x100m free relay team while setting a new national record with her lead-off leg 54.22.
