LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field program's
Stella Clemens,
Mackenna Howard,
Elisa Rovere and
Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors, while the squad garnered All-Academic Team recognition behind its 3.22 cumulative grade point average.
This is the second straight year that all four Rebels were recognized for their classroom success. Moreover, Clemens (2017, 2018 and 2019) and Howard (2015, 2018 and 2019) are both three-time honorees.
Additionally, all four student-athletes were tabbed to the Spring 2019 Academic All-Mountain West Team.
Dating back to the 2009-10 school year, the Rebel track & field program has claimed all-academic team recognition seven times.
A total of 902 women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2018-19 seasons. To qualify, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships, including preliminary rounds.
To be included on the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Team list, the squad – one of 227 women's programs recognized – must have finished highly at the respective national championship meet and have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA.
