LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -Â UNLV men's soccer suffered a heartbreaking loss in its season opener Friday night, as the Rebels were three minutes away from a victory but would fall 2-1 in double-overtime on the road at Big West preseason favorite UC Santa Barbara.
In a game that saw several momentum shifts, UNLV grabbed a 1-0 edge in the 80th minute when freshman
Bryan Martinez-Serrano scored his first career goal, a header off a long pass by
Hayden Prasad. CSUB tied the game though in the 88th minute and the contest went into double-overtime. The Gauchos scored the game-winning with just minutes left, a short shot off a scramble following a corner kick in the 107th minute.
UNLV returns to action Monday night in its home opener against San Diego State at 8 pm at Johann Memorial Field. Tickets are $8, $5 for seniors and staff, kids 17 and under are free, and the free tailgate party opens up at 6 pm.
