LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Legendary former UNLV and NFL running back Elbert "Ickey" Woods will serve as honorary captain and represent his decade's players during Saturday's 80's Night as part of the athletic department's ongoing Sam Boyd Stadium Farewell celebration.
The Rebels host Arkansas State at 7 p.m. looking to build on last week's season-opening victory. Woods will be on hand starting at 4:30 p.m. in the Rebel Block Party outside the stadium to sign autographs for fans in exchange for a $20 donation to his Jovante Woods Foundation for awareness and work for those who suffer from asthma. Woods' son Jovante died at the age of 16 in 2010 due to complications from asthma and Ickey has devoted himself to do all that he can to combat the deadly disease.
In addition, The Ickey Woods Celebrity Golf Tournament this weekend at Bali Hai Golf Club will benefit the Jovante Woods Foundation.

UNLV Athletics announced a celebration of the final year of football at Sam Boyd Stadium that includes special features, giveaways and fans' favorite memories throughout the historic season. The Sam Boyd Stadium Farewell campaign, which features a unique logo and uses the hashtag #SBSFarewell, was launched to help Rebel fans unite around the 49th and final season of their off-campus home that opened in 1971. The department is celebrating the stadium's history during the final six home games before UNLV football moves to the state-of-the-art, $1.9 billion Las Vegas Stadium currently under construction closer to campus.
As part of #SBSFarewell, a guest former Rebel great represents all the players from their respective decade while serving as honorary captain during the pregame coin toss.
Woods, a native of Fresno, California, played at UNLV from 1984-87 and started his career by helping Randall Cunningham and the Rebels win a conference title and the California Bowl as a freshman. As a senior he was dominant, leading the nation with 1,658 rushing yards, which was powered by a trio of 200-yard performances. Woods soon became the highest draft pick in school history in 1988 when Cincinnati took him 31st overall and proceeded to lead the Bengals to the Super Bowl as a rookie with 1,006 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Season, single-game and mini-plan tickets for UNLV home football games are on sale now.
