LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV's
Izumi Asano will play for the singles title on Sunday after advancing Saturday at the Women's Tennis Fall Invitational inside the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Joining the Rebels this weekend are competitors from Long Beach State, NAU, Delaware and Southern Utah.
In the top flight of singles, Asano downed Wiktoria Rutkowska of Long Beach State, 6-0, 6-4. Her teammate,
En-Pei Huang, fell in her semifinal match, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.
The hosts also won both of their top flight doubles matches Saturday. Huang and Asano won 8-3 over a team from NAU while
Samantha Li and
Connie Li downed another Lumberjack duo, 8-5. Because both finalists are from the same school, the Rebel teams are considered co-champions and will play other teams outside of the bracket on the final day.
Action resumes at 10 a.m. Sday and all matches are free of charge
