Lady Rebels Look For Split Of Road Trip Saturday At New Mexico

UNLV has won six of its last seven against the Lobos.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -  UNLV women's basketball is looking to earn a split of its two-game road trip as it takes on the New Mexico Lobos Saturday afternoon at 1 pm (PT) in The Pit. The Lady Rebels recently saw their five-game win streak snapped after San Jose State scored at the buzzer to hand UNLV a 62-60 loss Wednesday in San Jose.

There will be a live video stream available on the Mountain West Network, with the link also available on UNLVRebels.com. Wyatt Tomchek (play-by-play) and Mark Wasik (color analyst) will handle the radio broadcast which can be accessed through UNLVRebels.com as well.

UNLV Game Notes

♦  UNLV brings a 4-2 MW record into the contest while the Lobos are just 2-4, which is almost the opposite of what the teams did in the non-conference schedule. The Lady Rebels began the year 3-8, before defeating South Florida on Dec. 21 to spark a five-game win streak. UNM meanwhile won its first six games of the year, and stood at 9-4, before dropping two games right before the Christmas break and its first two MW games of 2020.
♦  UNLV is looking for its fourth road win of the year, after going 3-10 in road games a year ago. New Mexico is 7-4 on its home court this season, though just 1-2 in conference play. UNLV has also won six of the last seven meetings with the Lobos, as UNM's 80-77 overtime win Jan. 23, 2019 snapped a six-game Lady Rebel win streak in the series.
♦  Saturday will be a match of offense vs defense, as the Lobos rank third in the league in scoring at 77.5 ppg, and are second in league games at 76.2 ppg. UNLV meanwhile is second in scoring defense at 59.94 ppg (first in MW games at 59.67 ppg).
♦  The 2019-20 UNLV Lady Rebel squad are one of the youngest and least experienced teams in the Mountain West this season after graduating four senior starters. UNLV has 10 underclassmen on this year's squad, with seven freshmen and three sophomores, while the four-member senior class had a total of two career starts (as a Lady Rebel) entering the season.
