Matchup With No. 2 Stanford Saturday

Lindy La Rocque takes her Lady Rebels against her alma mater in the Thomas & Mack Center.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -  Lindy La Rocque will have a chance to face her alma mater much earlier than anyone expected, as the first-year UNLV head coach and the Lady Rebels will host second-ranked Stanford Saturday afternoon at 2 pm in the Thomas & Mack Center. The game came together this week after both teams lost scheduled games due to COVID-19 issues in other programs.

Because of the region's COVID-19 situation, fans are not allowed to attend. There will be a live video stream available on the Mountain West Network, featuring the call of Ben Wilson and Jeremy Roach. Wyatt Tomchek will provide play-by-play for the Lady Rebels' radio broadcast. Both the video stream and the radio broadcast can be accessed at UNLVRebels.com.

UNLV Game Notes

♦  Stanford will be the highest ranked team the Lady Rebels have faced since a 95-64 loss to No. 2 Texas on Dec. 8, 1984, in the championship game of the UNLV/7-Up Desert Classic. It will also mark the highest ranked team to play on the UNLV campus since then.
♦  This also will mark the first time new UNLV head coach Lindy La Rocque has faced her alma mater, as she was on four Final Four teams at Stanford from 2009-12 and was a member of the Cardinal staff from 2017-20 before taking over at the helm of the Lady Rebels.
♦  Saturday's game is the first time a Lady Rebel coach has faced their alma mater since Jim Bolla led UNLV to a 73-66 win over Pittsburgh on Nov. 28, 1987 (Bolla was co-head coach that season with Shelia Strike).
♦  UNLV has lost 11 straight games against ranked opponents, with the last win coming over No. 16 George Washington 62-61 on Nov. 30, 2007. All-time the Lady Rebels are 1-2 against the No. 2 team in the Top 25 AP Poll.
