LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team lost a singles match for the first time this season but still remained perfect on the year after grinding out a 4-1 win over Hawai'i to close out Saturday's doubleheader at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels improved to 4-0 while the Rainbow Warriors fell to 2-4 on the young season. UNLV downed Pacific by the same team score earlier in the day.

Against UH, the hosts won the first two completed doubles matches for a 1-0 leac but the Warriors tied it with a singles win on court three. The Rebels picked up two straight-set wins to make it 3-1 but had to work hard for the clinching point as the remaining trio of matchups all went to three sets. Finally, Alex Kobelt ended things with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 win over Andre IIagan at the top of the lineup.

REBEL OF THE MATCH: Senior Eric Samuelsson teamed up with Clayton Alenik for a 6-4 doubles win on court two and then breezed by Lucas Labrunie, 6-3, 6-2, at the second singles position.

QUOTABLE: "It was a long day at Fertitta against two solid opponents but our hard work on and off the courts definitely showed up to help us take both matches."
