LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team opened a weekend full of matches with a dominating 6-1 victory over Weber State on a gorgeous Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels improved to 2-5 on the season while the Wildcats fell to 3-2.
 
UNLV emerged through a spirited doubles session for the opening point and then won in straight sets on five of six singles courts.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Izumi Asano won her singles match at No. 1, 6-1, 6-2, over Yuuna Ukita, after earlier teaming with doubles partner En-Pei Huang for a 6-3 victory at the top of the lineup. The Rebel duo is ranked No. 15 in the nation and improved to 13-3 on the season.
 
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: Weather permitting, UNLV will host Youngstown State on Saturday beginning with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
