LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Â For the second straight game UNLV was outscored by over 20 combined in the second and third quarters, spoiling a career effort from Rodjanae Wade on her Senior Night as the Lady Rebels dropped a 76-63 contest to San Jose State in the regular season finale for both teams Thursday night from the Cox Pavilion. The Lady Rebels finish the regular season at 13-16, 9-9 in league play to tie for fifth, while SJSU moved to 18-11, and 12-6 in the MW.
UNLV jumped out to a 20-5 lead as Wade posted a double-double in the first quarter of 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Spartans ended the first quarter with a trey, which would be the start of a 41-10 spurt over the next 17 minutes, putting the visitors up 46-30 at the 4:58 mark of the third quarter. The lead grew to as high as 20 in the fourth for SJSU before UNLV cut the final margin down to 13.
LADY REBEL OF THE GAME: The one highlight for UNLV was the play of Wade, as she posted the first 20-point, 20-rebound performance in 16 years, finishing with game-highs of 23 points and a career-high 22 rebounds. The nation's leading offensive rebounder coming into the night at 5.2 rpg, she collected 13 offensive boards Thursday.
STAT OF THE GAME:Â UNLV was held to just 31.1% shooting (23-of-74) for the game, including three quarters of under 28%. SJSU meanwhile shot 42.6% (26-of-61) while knocking down 10 three-pointers to just five for UNLV.Â
LADY REBEL NOTES
* - Senior LaTecia Smith was the only other player in double-figures for UNLV with 10.
* - One bright spot was UNLV's freshmen play, as Melanie Isbell, Jacinta Buckley, Isis Beh and Anna Blount all came off the bench to score 24 points, outscoring the Spartans bench by one.
