LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Seven members of the UNLV swimming and diving program, one from the women's team and a WAC conference-high six men, have earned CSCAA (College Swim Coaches Association of America) Scholar All-America honors, the organization released this week. This comes one week after both the men's and women's squads were recognized as CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams for the 2020 Spring Semester. In addition, the Western Athletic Conference announced Thursday that two Rebels were named to the Academic All-WAC Spring Sports Freshman/Transfers team.

The men were highlighted by a pair of repeat Honorable Mention selections in sophomores Ivan Zhukau and Michal Cukanow. Claiming their first career Scholar All-American HM recognition were senior Hayden Hemmens, sophomore Jack Binder, junior Jesse Cawley and freshman Christopher Mykkanen. 

UNLV's women were represented by sophomore Kacey Kiuchi, as she was an Honorable Mention selection as well

To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable Mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or, for diving, competed at their respective qualifying meets.

In addition, Mykkanen along with Steven Butler and Cameron Castro were also named to the 2019-20 Academic All-WAC team for Freshman/Transfers. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. Hemmens, Cukanow, Zhukau, Binder, Cawley and Bertrand Phung had previously been named to the Academic All-WAC for Winter Sports in April.
