LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Rebels Rise Up, an expansive UNLV Student-Athlete Development series, will continue on Tuesday evening (Sept. 15) with another opportunity for Rebel student-athletes. CEO Week is this week's Tuesday Career Development series offering.
Each week, student-athletes will hear from a wide range of successful professionals from various fields of work. The first featured five members of the UNLV Athletics Department Staff.
"Connecting our student-athletes to professionals in our community is a critical part of our mission," said
Mallory Poole, UNLV Assistant Athletics Director, Wellness & Leadership. "Leaders learn from other leaders and having these CEOs share their success stories will help our student-athletes connect their skill set and interests while learning about future career pathways."
This Tuesday's lineup will consist of Kim Damron, CEO of Paciolan; Geoff Edlund, President of Papillon Group; Vitali Lapko, President of Spreetail; and Rob Reynolds, a Las Vegas Attorney and the Talent Manager for both The Killers and Imagine Dragons.
The four will discuss how they broke into their current field while sharing career and leadership tips that they've learned along the way. Future sessions will feature members of the medical and hospitality fields.
"I am excited for this week's CEO panel because I get to hear thoughts and experiences from people whose position I aspire to be in one day," said Bailey Thomas from the UNLV women's basketball team. "I love being a leader in the sports world, and I would love to translate my skills into the business world."
Other segments of the Rebels Rise Up programming includes mindset work with sport psychologist
Dr. Kacey Oiness-Thompson, a book club in partnership with the UNLV Library, career education, fitness competitions and various leadership development opportunities will be held weekly.
Rebels Rise Up is an extension of previously hosted student-athlete development programs. UNLV Athletics moved to develop expanded weekly programming opportunities to provide routine and offer winning-edge access to professional and personal development during a time without sport competition.
