LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV softball freshman Lauren Fettic has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Thursday.

Fettic earned the recognition for the first time this season, while it's the softball team's third of the year.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

A native of Boise, Idaho, Fettic helped the Rebels to a 4-0 week in two series sweeps over New Mexico and Utah State to put UNLV at second in the Mountain West standings.

In 11.2 innings of work, she posted a .060 ERA and six strikeouts. Additionally, Fettic faced 55 batters only allowing 12 hits, five runs and four walks. She recorded four strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work in game one against the Lobos. In the opener against the Aggies, she earned the win in relief. In the series finale against USU, she collected her second save of the season.
