LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV baseball junior Marcos Rosales has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.

Rosales earned the recognition for the first time this season, while it's the baseball team's first of the year.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

A native of West Covina, California, Rosales went 10-for-18 with 15 RBI, nine runs scored, three home runs, and 20 total bases in a 2-2 week for the Rebels that included a series win over San Jose State.

Against No. 22 Arizona State, he went 2-for-5 with a grand slam, a single and scored two runs.

In the series opener against SJSU, Rosales went 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and six RBI, while he also scored four runs. In game two vs. the Spartans, he went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. In the series finale, Rosales recorded a pair of singles and two RBI to go along with  his one run scored.
