LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV softball senior Keyannah Chavez has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.

Chavez earned the recognition for the first time this season, while it's the softball team's second of the year.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

A native of Leander, Texas, Chavez helped the Rebels to a 2-1 series win against Colorado State. During the three-game stretch, she batted a combined .778 (7-for-9) with a double, three RBI and three runs scored. 

In the series opener, Chavez was 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run. During game two, she went 3-for-3, had two RBI and scored a run. In the series finale, she finished 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and scored a run.
