LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Freshman Ruby Howell has been tabbed the Mountain West Swimmer of the Week. This is her first career weekly honor.

A Boise, Idaho native, Howell aided the Rebels to a win in the UNLV Invitational on Jan. 7-8 with a trio of victories in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 breast against Arizona. With her times in the 200 IM time (2:02.96) and 400 IM (4:21.30), the UNLV newcomer moved atop the MW season rankings in both events. Meanwhile, Howell's 200 breast time (2:15.43) in the meet moved her into third on the season's Conference top times list.

Howell also finished first in the 200 breast (2:20.90) and third in the 100 breast (1:05.78) in her Scarlet and Gray debut to help lead the Rebel women to a 141-100 win over Cal Baptist in their season opener on Dec. 16.
