SEATTLE (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's soccer team tallied a season high on the road with nine shots on goal Friday night, but ultimately came up empty handed in a 2-0 loss to Seattle in WAC competition at Championship Field.
In spite of their record falling to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in WAC play, the Rebels created numerous opportunities throughout the match to finish with four players recording multiple shots on goal. Senior Bailey Leatherman led the Scarlet and Gray with three shots on frame, while his senior counterparts
Nicolas Likulia and
Aedon Kyra and sophomore
Louis Hiepen each notched two attempts on target against the Redhawks (5-5, 1-1 WAC).
However, Seattle maintained control in the scoring on the evening as it scored on a penalty kick goal in the 31st minute and added another goal in the final seconds of the match. Additionally, the Redhawks were able to parry each of the Rebels' shots on goal on miraculous saves by goalkeeper Akili Kasim.
The Rebels will return to the pitch Sunday for another WAC road contest at San Jose State at 2:30 p.m. PT.
