LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Lady Rebels (4-2) visit the Utah Valley Wolverines (4-2) for the first time Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 3 p.m. PT to start a three-game road stretch while the National Finals Rodeo occupies the Thomas & Mack Center and the Cox Pavilion.

UNLV and Utah Valley were to meet last year in Orem, Utah, but COVID-19 protocols forced the cancellation of the contest.

Scouting Utah Valley

• UNLV and Utah Valley are meeting for the first time after last season's scheduled contest was cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols.
• Utah Valley is 4-2 having most recently defeated Portland State, 62-43, at home. The Wolverines count losses to Mountain West opponents Fresno State, 71-62, and Nevada, 70-64.
• UVU's Josie Williams was named the WAC Player of the Week after averaging 17 points and 16 rebounds in the last two wins.
• Utah Valley was predicted to finish fourth in the WAC's Preseason Coaches Poll and was picked third in the preseason media poll.

Lady Rebels' last time out

• UNLV routed Grambling State 89-49 Sunday, Nov. 28, at the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.
• The Lady Rebels jumped to a double-digit lead within 5 minutes and led wire-to-wire.
• Justice Ethridge scored 10 of UNLV's first 17 points and finished with a season-high 15 points on 5-of-7 field goal shooting.
• Essence Booker scored 11 straight points (3-3 3FG) to end the first quarter and finished with a game-high 18 points and four assists.
• Alyssa Durazo-Frescas, making her first collegiate start, scored eight of her career-high 13 points in the third quarter. Durazo-Frescas also counted collegiate bests with three rebounds and three assists.

Preseason hype

• Picked third in the Mountain West preseason poll, the Lady Rebels return four student-athletes from last year's team, including two starters, and welcome eight newcomers.
• Reigning Mountain West Freshman of the Year Desi-Rae Young was named to the 2021-22 Preseason Mountain West All-Conference Team.
• UNLV crushed Cal State Los Angeles 106-45 in its lone exhibition on Nov. 3. Senior guard Justice Ethridge's double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds led the Lady Rebels.

Record road winning streak ended

• With its loss at Northern Arizona, UNLV's road winning streak ended at 10 consecutive, matching the program record set over the 1985 and 1986 seasons.
• It was the first true road defeat under head coach Lindy La Rocque.
• At the time of the loss, UNLV shared the fifth longest active road winning streak in NCAA Division I women's basketball.

Short memories

• The Lady Rebels have only suffered consecutive defeats once under Lindy La Rocque. 
• Under La Rocque, UNLV is 9-1 following a loss (in the same season of play) with an average margin of victory of 19 points in those nine games.

Frescas adding freshness

• UNLV's freshman from California powerhouse Mater Dei High School has found her groove and earned her first collegiate start Sunday, Nov. 28, versus Grambling State.
• After totaling just 2 points (1-8 FG) and 2 rebounds in UNLV's first three games, Alyssa Durazo-Frescas has 32 combined points in UNLV last three contests, shooting 53 percent from the field (10-19 FG) and 57 percent from beyond the arc (8-14 3FG).
• Durazo-Frescas has counted the team's highest plus-minus rating in each of the last two games.
