Rebels Sign Nine During Fall Period

UNLV Baseball’s signing class includes four local products from the Las Vegas Valley, four from Southern California and one from Arizona

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball program has signed nine student-athletes – Kaleb Duncan, Andrew Kirchner, Chase Ditmar, Jake Khasaempanth, Noah Jordan Rodriguez, Tyler Avery, Zander Bretza, Brett Matson and Reese Lueck - who will enroll at the University beginning fall 2022, head coach Stan Stolte announced Monday.

This fall's class features four local products from the Las Vegas Valley, four from Southern California and one from Arizona.

"We are really happy with the group our recruiting coordinator Cory Vanderhook put together," UNLV head baseball coach Stan Stotle said. "Our associate head coach Kevin Higgins and Cory did a great job identifying the type of player we want in our program, both on and off the field. We are very much looking forward to working with this group!"

Avery is a 6-3 local right-handed pitcher who attends Bishop Gorman High School. Vanderhook on Avery: "Tyler has been the ace of Bishop Gorman pitching staff the past two years and is expected to come in and give the Rebels big innings as a freshman."

Bretza is a 6-1 strong right-handed pitcher and third baseman out of Santa Ana, CA who attended Segerstrom Fundamental High School. Vanderhook on Bretza: "Zander is a power hitting third baseman that also possesses power with his strong right arm."

Ditmar is another local commit, a 6-2 right-handed pitcher and third baseman out of Basic High School. Vanderhook on Ditmar: "Chase is a pure lockdown defender at third base and can carry a team offensively when needed. Chase will double his workload and is expected to help the Rebels on the mound as well."

Duncan is a 5-8 center fielder hailing from Goodyear, Arizona who attends Millennium High School. Vanderhook on Duncan: "Kaleb is an extremely dynamic athlete that can take over a game with his bat, speed and great defensive talents."

Khasaempanth is a 5-11 right-handed pitcher from Riverside, California and attends Arlington High School. Vanderhook on Khasaempanth: "Jake possesses great command with multiple pitches and has a wipe out slider that plays right now at any level."

Kirchner is a 6-3 outfielder/right-handed pitcher from Lakewood, California who attends Gahr High School. Vanderhook on Kirchner: "Andrew is just starting to scratch the surface as a big-time pitching prospect, he also has a sweet left hand swing that bodes well for Earl E Wilson Field."

Matson is another local product out of Liberty High School, a 5-11 utility player. Vanderhook on Matson: "Brett will be Mr. Utility for the Rebels. He can play multiple positions in the infield and outfield and is also versatile at the plate being a switch hitter that has a pure left-handed swing with pop."

Rodriguez is a 5-9 middle infielder from La Habra, California out of La Mirada High School. Vanderhook on Rodriguez: "Noah can play multiple infield positions at a very high level and handles the bat on offense just as well."
 
Reese Lueck
​Lueck is another local product who attends Palo Verde High School and is a 6-0 right-handed pitcher. Vanderhook on Lueck: "Reese is a former two way player that has emerged as a side winding right hander on the mound. He had great outings over the fall with the ATL Braves scout team, and showed great at our Rebel Prospect Camp in November."

In the most recent Nevada Prep Baseball Report, all four Silver State signees are ranked between No. 6 to No. 27. Ditmar is the highest rated, coming in at No. 6 overall and No. 1 for third basemen. Avery sits at No. 8 overall and was also an Area Code Games Selectee. Matson ranks No. 16 overall and Lueck rounds it out for the future Rebels at No. 27 overall. Rodriguez is a "Top 50 Player in California" and sits at No. 44 overall and No. 9 for middle infielders in the most recent California Prep Baseball Report.
