FORT COLLINS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team was forced inside because of an April snowstorm and was downed 4-3 by Wyoming in a five-hour marathon match Saturday afternoon (and evening).
The Rebels fell to 9-6 overall and 5-2 in Mountain West play while the Cowgirls improved to 10-6 and 4-2.
Wyoming opened a 1-0 lead by taking two of three doubles matches. In singles play, the Rebels got a trio of straight-set victories to reach three points but Mihaelea Kaftanova got by
Aura Fang, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, in the sixth position to seal it for the Cowgirls.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: En-Pei Huang teamed with
Izumi Asano for a 6-3 win in doubles and then swept Ana Fernandez at the third spot, 6-4, 6-4, in singles.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will be back at it Sunday afternoon with a match vs. Colorado State.
