Rebels In 10th After Two Rounds In Napa

Wednesday's final round begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at the Silverado Resort

NAPA, California (UNLVRebels.com) - With two rounds in the books at the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort in Napa, California, the UNLV women's golf team sits in 10th place at 32-over 608. The event is co-hosted by Colorado and Oregon and will finish with the third and final round Wednesday morning.

Heading into Wednesday, sophomore Elina Saksa sits in a tie for 21st at 5-over, followed by freshman Madeleine Laux and junior Veronica Joels in a tie for 31st at 8-over. Freshman Gracie Olkowski is in 73rd at 23-over and senior Samantha Fuller did not complete the second round Tuesday.

Day-one leader UCLA increased its lead Tuesday to four strokes, sitting at 1-over 577 atop the leaderboard. No. 13 USC is in second at 5-over 581, with Oregon State in third at 6-over 582, Arizona State in fourth at 12-over 588 and Oregon in fifth at 17-over 593.

Individually, Oregon State's Ellie Slama, who was tied for the lead to start the day, jumped way ahead in round two, shooting the only individual round of the day under 70 with a 4-under to put her at 9-under 135 for the tournament. Slama has a six-shot margin over UCLA's Emma Spitz and USC's Allisen Corpuz, who are tied for second at 3-under 141. UCLA's Yuki Yoshihara and Washington's Stefanie Deng rounds out the top five in a tie for fourth at 2-under 142 .

UP NEXT: Wednesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. PT.

NOTES:
• This is the third straight season the Rebels will compete in the event (the 2020 tournament was canceled) and the fourth time overall. The tournament is co-hosted by the Pac-12's Oregon and Colorado
• The Rebels have finished in the top five in two of five and in the top 10 in four of five tournaments this spring
• UNLV has five returners from last year along with two freshmen newcomers - Madeleine Laux and Gracie Olkowski
• Head coach Amy Bush-Herzer is in her 10th year at the helm of the program. She has led her team to a conference championship four times.
