LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's soccer team fell to Dixie State, 2-1, in its season opener Thursday night at Peter Johann Memorial Field on campus.
 
The Rebels made their way onto the scoreboard in the first half, as Alyssa Caso hit from the right corner of the box in the 23rd minute to even the game, 1-1. The Trailblazers, however, capitalized in the 89th minute with their second goal, leaving little time remaining for a response from the Scarlet & Gray.
 
UNLV's matchup with the Trailblazers was the second of two played on the opening day of the four-team UNLV Invitational, which also saw the UC Davis Aggies take a 1-0 win over the New Mexico Lobos in Thursday's first game.
 
The Rebels return to action Saturday at 4:30 pm versus UC Davis.
