LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's soccer jumped out to an early three-goal lead in the first half Saturday afternoon on the way to earning its first win of the season, 3-2, over UC Davis at Peter Johann Memorial Field.

"We learned last year to be very adaptable with the situation and that's the Rebel spirit we showed today," said head coach Jenny Ruiz-Williams. "Thursday was probably one of the best things that could've happened to us because it gave us a chance to make a change. The energy we had there today was electric and we found ourselves. But huge credit to UC Davis for the way they continued to battle from being down 3-0 in the beginning."
 
Sophomore Haley Halbersma started the early Rebel scoring barrage with her goal on a header in the third minute off a corner from the right taken by Alyssa Granados. Just under 20 minutes later, senior Izzy Perez's low cross found its way to junior Lourdes Bosch, who tapped in the Scarlet and Gray's second score from in front of the left post. Perez made her mark on offense yet again in the 42nd minute, as she drew a penalty and then connected on the ensuing attempt for UNLV's third goal.
