MORAGA, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season, 2-0, at the hands of Saint Mary's Friday night at Saint Mary's Stadium.
Facing a Gaels (2-1) team which is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches national rankings, the Rebels (2-1) couldn't overcome a 51st-minute goal and an insurance score in the 69th minute by Saint Mary's.
The Scarlet and Gray attack managed to get off eight shots in the contest - four of which were on goal - but a stingy St. Mary's defense anchored by goalkeeper Kash Oladapo prevented any Rebel finishes.
UNLV continues its Labor Day weekend trip to the Golden State with a matchup with Cal from the Pac-12 Sunday at 1 p.m.
