Runnin' Rebel Comeback At Air Force Falls Short

Bryce Hamilton scored 32 points and Donovan Williams had 19 in 69-62 loss Thursday night.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team led early, trailed late and mounted a comeback that fell just short in a 69-62 loss at Air Force at Clune Arena Thursday night.

Bryce Hamilton scored a game-high 32 points for the Runnin' Rebels (10-8, 2-3) and Donovan Williams added 19. Royce Hamm Jr. collected a team-high nine rebounds, while Hamilton grabbed seven.

Air Force (9-7, 2-3) had three players score in double figures, led by Ethan Taylor's double-double of 16 points and game-high 10 rebounds.

STATS OF THE GAME: Air Force shot 59.1% from the floor in the first half (13 of 22) en route to a 33-25 halftime advantage and its bench outscored UNLV's 28-4 for the game.

COLD SPELL: UNLV jumped out to an 18-9 lead and led 20-13 at the 10:15 mark of the first half, however the Runnin' Rebels did not make another field goal the remainder of the half.

COMEBACK ATTEMPT: Air Force led by 14 points with under eight minutes to play when UNLV started to cut into the Falcons' lead. Eight straight points by Williams cut the deficit to four but that was as close as the Runnin' Rebels would get.

QUOTABLE: "We did a good job to fight and get back in it, but we just waited too long. Once we had some urgency it was too late and we had a couple mental mistakes that when you fight that hard to get back, there's just no margin for error." - UNLV head coach Kevin Kruger
