Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Runnin' Rebels Run Over No. 22 Colorado State, 88-74

Bryce Hamilton tallied the ninth-highest single-game scoring total in program history with a career-high 42 points Friday night in Fort Collins.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team defeated No. 22 Colorado State 88-74 Friday night at Moby Arena.

Bryce Hamilton led all scorers with a career-high 42 points, while Justin Webster added 12 and David Muoka contributed 11 for the Runnin' Rebels (12-9, 4-4).

CSU (16-2, 6-2), which suffered its first loss at home after winning its first 10 games of the season there, was led by Isaiah Stevens' 35 points and David Roddy's 13.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Hamilton's 42 points tied for the ninth-best single-game scoring performance in UNLV history and marked the first time a Runnin' Rebel scored at least 40 points in a game since Trevor Diggs had 49 in 2001. Hamilton was 12 of 21 from the field, including 7 of 13 on 3-pointers. He made 11 of 14 free throws, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists against just one turnover in 36 minutes of action.

QUOTABLE: When asked if it was the best game he ever played, Hamilton said "In college for sure. Playing on the road, with a hostile environment, it's a great win. I'd say it's probably one of my favorites. My best game."

UNLV head coach Kevin Kruger said, "I couldn't be more proud of them. They just keep fighting. They keep battling. Their intent, their conviction over the last few days of prep was I think what showed early. They knew that Colorado State scores in waves and bunches and that they had set the tone early, that they were going to work. And I think they did just that. At the beginning of the second half, we stepped back a little bit and Colorado State showed what they can do offensively, but our guys drew a line in the sand. They were tough and protected the ball. They did a great job and I just couldn't be more proud of them for their continued fight."

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV shot 58.6% in the first half (17 of 29), including 53.3% on 3-pointers (8 of 15), to race out to an 18-point halftime lead (43-25).

AGAINST A RANKED TEAM: It marked UNLV's first victory over a ranked team since 2020 when it won at then-No. 4 San Diego State, spoiling the Aztecs perfect season.

REBEL DEFENSE: The Rams entered the game ranked third in the country in field-goal percentage at 50.2%. UNLV held them to just 32.1% (9 of 28) in the first half and 43.1% (25 of 58) for the game.

It was the Runnin' Rebels' fourth road game in the past 11 days and fifth contest overall (all in different cities) during that span.
- UNLV improved its all-time record against CSU to 42-19 and is now 12-10 in games played in Fort Collins.
- It was just UNLV's second win in the last 11 games against CSU and only its second in the last seven meetings in Fort Collins.

- Over his last four games, Hamilton has averaged 31.8 ppg, scoring 32, 30, 23 and 42.
