LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Among the 12 wins posted by UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving against Hawai'i and Wyoming on Friday's opening to their senior meet at Jim Reitz Pool, sophomore
Blanka Bokros stole the show with a feat only two other Rebels had ever accomplished.
A native of Budapest, Hungary, Bokros became just the third Rebel women's squad swimmer to dip below the two-minute mark in the 200 fly with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:59.69. Only former All-American swimmer Zsuzsanna Jakabos (1:56.33) - who also hails from Hungary - along with Bokros' teammate and this season's Mountain West leader
Gabby Lizzul (1:58.96) have registered faster times.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
*Finding success alongside Bokros in the 200 fly, seniors
Carissa Armijo and
Teneka Ash gave the Rebels its second sweep of the top-3 spots. Armijo (2:05.06) touched second after she scooted just in front of Ash (2:05.49) in third place.
*In the 1000 free, seniors
Teneka Ash and
Julia Filippova started the string of Scarlet and Gray individual victories on the day by leading the squad's 1-2 finish. The former finished first with a time of 10:15.39 while the latter was second with a time of 10:19.06.
*Super senior Kate Afanasyeva picked up her sixth 100 back victory of the season behind a time of 54.84.
*Adding to a strong start to the seniors' final home competition,
Kristina Schneider (50.51) sped to a narrow win in the 100 free ahead of Hawai'i's Gabby Williams (50.55) by only four-tenths of a second.
Ava Haase was the next best Rebel finisher in third place with a time of 51.76.
*The Rebel sophomore trio of
Calysta Bartlett (2:05.93), Bokros (2:06.03) and
Ruby Howell (2:06.23) captured a third women's 1-2-3 finish in the 200 IM. Bartlett placed first and was followed by Bokros in second and Howell in third.

McKay Mickelson (1:51.47) took third.
*The Rebels didn't hold back in 100 free, reeling in a second 1-2-3 sweep on the men's side as sophomore
