Helgesson's Big Rally Puts Her In Regional Title Tilt

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV's Molly Helgesson fought off six match points to rally for a three-set victory and earn a spot in Sunday's singles final of the 2022 ITA Mountain Region Women's Championships being held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus.
 
Helgesson trailed Kaila Barksdale 7-5, 5-4 before storming back to defeat the Utah freshman, 5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
 
The Rebel senior will now face Denver's Taylor Melville in the championship tilt, which is set for 9:30 a.m. Admission is free of charge.
 
More than 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country. In Division I, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending ITA National Fall Championships.
