LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV senior
Molly Helgesson lost in Sunday's singles final of the ITA Mountain Region Championship at the Fertitta Tennis Complex but still earned a spot in the National Fall Championships next month.
The top-seeded Helgesson fell to Denver's sixth-seeded Taylor Melville, 6-3, 6-4, in the title tilt but with both finalists from each region earning a bid to the national event, she will make her second consecutive appearance in the elite field. A native of Falkenberg, Sweden, Helgesson also reached the final last fall before also losing to a player from the Pioneers.
The 2022 ITA National Fall Championships will take place November 2-6 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, California. The Championships are the grand finale to the fall collegiate tennis season and feature 64 of the nation's top collegiate singles players (32 men and 32 women) and 64 doubles teams (32 men's team and 32 women's teams).
