Ruiz Named Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel Of The Week

The sophomore runner earned second consecutive honor after leading the Rebels at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational Sunnyvale.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV cross country sophomore Natalia Ruiz has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

Ruiz, a sophomore from Madrid, Spain, led the Rebels with a first-place finish behind a UNLV program record for the women's 6k at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Saturday. Her time of 19:49 shattered the school's previous top mark by 49 seconds. She also earned Mountain West Female Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive time after her performance
